A better walking and cycling route on Barrowcliffe Place
Barrowcliffe Place includes a motorway over-bridge that has remained closed to cars since the construction of State Highway 20. The bridge has traditionally been used as a walking route from Wiri to the town centre.
Kōtuitui Place is being transformed into a new residential suburb, and the bridge will become a road again as part of this project. As a result, council has identified that a safer walking and cycling route is needed.
Eke Panuku is upgrading Barrowcliffe Place in Manukau to create a better walking and cycling route. This will improve the connection between Wiri and central Manukau for pedestrians and people on bikes, making it safer and easier to access. The design will also celebrate the unique identity of the area.
The new design will be completed by early 2020. Construction will be completed by mid-2021.
