Where are we at with this project?
Work has started on Te Ara Awataha, Northcote’s greenway, with the community-led restoration of Jessie Tonar Scout Reserve. You can get involved by getting stuck in at an upcoming community restoration day. Find out more by watching the video below, or check the dates on the Kaipātiki Project website.
New Kāinga Ora housing is beginning to pop up.
The transformation of Greenslade Reserve is underway to create a new recreational facility and address the problem of local flooding. The reserve makes up one portion of the future greenway.
Construction of the ‘schools’ edge’ portion of the greenway has started. This section of greenway runs alongside Northcote Intermediate School and Onepoto Primary School and will feature an outdoor classroom for the adjoining schools.
The urban renewal of the town centre is moving forward, with Eke Panuku starting conversations with potential development partners. While the town centre renewal is a couple of years away (the earliest construction will begin is 2024), this will result in more shops, eateries and public space.
