About the regeneration of Tāmaki
The people of Tāmaki know what they want and those desires are sparking one of the largest urban regenerations in Auckland.
Community feedback from Glen Innes, Pt England and Panmure has shaped three areas for results – lifestyle and culture, talent and creativity, and places and neighbourhoods.
When the regeneration is complete, people want to be living in a Tāmaki where:
- People are engaged, healthy and safe and their cultural identity and diversity is celebrated
- Residents have good sustainable employment and education opportunities
- There are connected, safe, attractive and well-used spaces with quality, healthy homes.
With that strong community spirit, a rich history, and a location only 12 minutes from the CBD by train, Tāmaki is undergoing significant growth and presenting many opportunities.
The regeneration aims to provide 7500 homes of different types and new community facilities in the next 10 to 15 years.
Making this happen is the Tāmaki Redevelopment Company – the first urban regeneration company of its kind in New Zealand, and a joint venture between the Government and Auckland Council. It’s working in partnership with mana whenua, local residents and businesses, local and central government agencies, local service providers and the private sector.
This is a unique opportunity to deliver on the company’s vision: “Tāmaki is a strong and welcoming community, where people thrive and prosper, celebrated for its distinct history and vibrant future”.
